popeye is possibly my second favorite robert altman
movie (behind m*a*s*h) it has my favorite production
design in all of film history,shelley duvall was indeed
born to play olive oyl and robin williams was so unregionable as popeye that when i was kid i didn't know
it was williams (making his screen debut) this and later
'the world according to garp' proved that he wasn't just
a tv star,he ended up becoming one of many actors who
broke the wall between television and the big screen.

tim burton's 1988 hit is a near-perfect movie (if he had
remove the scene of beetlejuice eating a fly that this would of got 5 stars!) alec baldwin & geena davis are fine but michael keaton and winona ryder steal the movie
right from under them. over all really entertaining

brilliantly made well-crafted film by robert altman,
donald sutherland and the song 'suicide is painless'
were robbed of academy award nominations and the film
should've won best picture & best director
in addition to the best adapted screenplay oscar it won
